Brian J. Pohl is co-owner and CEO of Persistence of Vision - Previs. During the early 90's, Pohl began his pursuit of digital animation and visual effects after completing his degree in broadcast design and serving several years as an officer in the United States Army.

This pursuit lead him to forge his first graphic design company while living in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was here that Pohl specialized in commercial art, graphic design, and broadcast animation. As animation programs grew more and more sophisticated, Pohl moved to Los Angeles to study a newly emerging 3D animation package called Maya.

Pohl at Skywalker RanchWhile in Los Angeles, Pohl met David Dozoretz on a freelance previs project for the film, Behind Enemy Lines. Impressed with his skills, Dozoretz invited Pohl to be apart of the Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones previsualization team up at Skywalker Ranch in northern California. Upon the completion of Episode II, Pohl was transferred to Industrial Light and Magic where he worked as a previs artist on a number of films that include: K19: The Widowmaker, Men in Black II, The Hulk, Terminator 3, Van Helsing, and THX-1138 Special Edition

With the restructuring of ILM's art department and its decision to disband its previs department, Pohl decided to return to Los Angeles where he then served as the previsualization supervisor on I, Robot and Stealth at Digital Domain.

Pohl's last VFX studio position was working as a rough layout technical director at Sony Pictures Animation's Open Season, where his role included rough layout blocking, camera animation, set dressing and designing complete sequences.

Pohl is experienced with a number of 3D animation and compositing packages and served as senior previsualization supervisor on a number of films. In his spare time he occasionally teaches classes on previsualization at Gnomon School of Visual Effects in Hollywood.
